KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads – Helpful Illustrated Guide

After our article about methods to soften the rifle recoil (read here), a great number of our readers started asking me about the KICK-EEZ pads. I decided to write down some of the questions and answers in this guide that hopefully helps you learn a bit more about them.

First of all, I would like to point out that KICK-EEZ is a company that makes the KICK-EEZ® brand products, it’s not just one product. They make all kinds of other helpful products meant for shooters.

What are KICK-EEZ® recoil pads?

KICK-EEZ® recoil pads are a shock-absorbing, easy to apply solution for softening rifle or shotgun recoil.

They are ideal for hunters, recreational and competitive shooters, and made of Sorbothane® which is scientifically proven to be the finest cushioning material available. Sorbothane® maintains stability and damping over a broad temperature range, enabling it to isolate damaging vibrations and impact shock in varied conditions. Its near faultless memory ensures a return to the original shape, even after thousands of compressions.

Less recoil means reduced flinching, no more sore shoulders or cheeks, and the best of all is that KICK-EEZ® pads work in all conditions so you don’t have to worry about the rain anymore.

Independent testing confirms that KICK-EEZ® Sorbothane® Recoil Pads reduce twice as much recoil than all other recoil pads on the market.

Can I Grind-To-Fit KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads?

Unlike some other products on the market, KICK-EEZ® Grind-To-Fit Recoil Pads never contain steel plates or hollow spots. Because of this, there’s no need to worry about sanding so much material from the pad that you hit a hollow spot or a metal plate.

What Is Sorbothane?

Sorbothane® is a polyurethane material that is polyether-based, providing unique vibration isolation and damping characteristics. Using a damping material such as Sorbothane is ideal for reducing shock! Do you remember the “bowling ball” mattress commercials where someone would drop a bowling ball on a bed that had a glass of wine on it and the wine would not spill? The reason it didn’t spill is because the mattress material would dissipate the bowling ball “energy” in ALL directions.

How To Reduce Length Of Pull?

One of the fastest and cheapest ways to handle the Length-Of-Pull issue is to purchase a thinner recoil pad and install it on the gun. Many guns come from the manufacturer with a 1” pad, so by merely purchasing a thinner KICK-EEZ Grind-To-Fit Pad in one of the available thicknesses of 1/2”, 3/4” or 15/16”, you can easily change LOP needs without cutting any gun stocks.

Do KICK-EEZ® pads fit on any firearm?

KICK-EEZ® pads are primarily made for rifles and shotguns. This does not mean that they don’t fit on stocks made for other weapons, but you would be better off double-checking if the pad will fit your needs.

Are There Any KICK-EEZ Pre-Fit Recoil Pads?

KICK-EEZ® has a Pre-Fit Sorbothane® recoil pad to fit most models and manufacturers. Please keep in mind, stock manufacturers continually change the dimensions of their stocks.

Can I restore the original shine or ‘gloss’ to my KICK-EEZ® Recoil Pad?

KICK-EEZ Recoil Pads come with a glossy finish that is only temporary. Never use varnish, shellac, or similar materials to try to restore the ‘glossy’ appearance of your KICK-EEZ Recoil Pad as most can cause an undesired, harmful chemical reaction that will damage the recoil pad.

What’s the difference between a KICK-EEZ Dual Action GTF Pad and a KICK-EEZ Standard GTF Recoil Pad?

A KICK-EEZ Standard GTF Recoil Pad has one layer of Sorbothane material, while the KICK-EEZ Dual-Action Recoil Pad has two.

Do KICK-EEZ® Recoil Pads Fit the GraCoil® Reduction System?

Graco Corporation does make more than one aluminum plate that KICK-EEZ recoil pads mount to. However, the good news is that regardless of what aluminum plate they use in their GraCoil system, KICK-EEZ recoil pads have the same screw hole separation of 3 1/8” apart, center-to-center.

Note: You will want to use Gracoil’s screws to mount the recoil pads because their screws have SAE threads, and are guaranteed the proper length.

Final Thoughts

Simply put, KICK-EEZ pads have no match on the market, and shooters in all categories love them. I have a few big-bore rifles that I can’t use without these pads, and it was by a sheer stroke of luck that a buddy of mine discovered them and I have been a happy shooting camper ever since.

You can purchase KICK-EEZ recoil pads on Amazon as well as their official store.

Hopefully, you have learned all the information you need about the KICK-EEZ recoil pads. However, if you still have questions, write them down in the comments below and we will do our best to answer them.
